Learnerships & Internships
MICT SETA Learnerships & Internships — Electronics & Mobile Repair
South Africa’s electronics and mobile device repair sector is one of the fastest-growing vocational industries on the continent — and it is critically short of qualified technicians. Microlek Skills Academy’s SETA Learnership and Internship programmes directly address this shortage by equipping learners with structured, accredited, and practically grounded skills that the market demands.
What Is a SETA Learnership?
A learnership is a structured learning programme that combines institutional (theoretical) training with practical workplace experience. It leads to a nationally recognised qualification registered on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF). Learnerships are governed by the Skills Development Act (No. 97 of 1998) and are administered through Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs) — in Microlek’s case, MICT SETA.
Our Learnership Programme — What to Expect
Microlek’s Learnership Programme is built around our unique, SETA-aligned electronics repair curriculum. Learners receive:
- Theoretical instruction via our structured online platform — accessible from anywhere in South Africa or Africa
- Compulsory, intensive practical workshop sessions at our training centre in Pretoria
- Continuous assessment, formal examinations, and competency verification
- A MICT SETA-recognised certificate upon successful completion (minimum 80% pass rate required)
- Post-programme mentorship and career guidance
Our curriculum covers mobile phone repair (Android and iOS), smartphone and tablet diagnostics, micro-soldering, laptop and computer repair, game console repair, schematic reading, and professional workbench safety — giving learners a comprehensive, job-ready skill set.
SETA Internship Programme
Our Internship Programme is designed for individuals who have completed a relevant theoretical qualification and require structured workplace experience to consolidate their learning. Under the guidance of our master technician facilitators, interns gain real-world diagnostic and repair experience that prepares them for employment or entrepreneurship in the electronics repair industry.
