Who We Are

Microlek Skills Academy is a registered, MICT SETA-accredited private Skills Development Provider (SDP), operating under the ETQA Regulations No: R1127 of 1998 of the SAQA Act 58 of 1995 (Accreditation Number: ACC/2015/07/0008). Established in 2007 and headquartered in Pretoria, South Africa, we are recognised as one of Africa’s leading electronics and mobile repair training institutions.

But our story goes deeper than accreditation numbers. Microlek was founded on a vision: that Africa has an untapped pool of talented, driven individuals who — given the right training, tools, and mentorship — can close the continent’s critical shortage of qualified electronics repair technicians. We exist to make that vision a reality.

What Makes Us Unique

When Microlek was established, no structured, SETA-aligned training programme existed for the electronics and mobile device repair industry in Africa. We designed one from the ground up. Drawing on decades of combined academic and industry expertise, our founders developed a curriculum that is:

• Aligned to the national Electronics Qualification framework
• Rooted in hands-on, practical skill development — not just theory
• Continuously updated to reflect the latest devices, technologies, and repair techniques
• Delivered by certified facilitators who are active industry practitioners

Our Track Record

Since 2007, Microlek Skills Academy has:

• Trained 600+ learners across all nine provinces of South Africa
• Extended our reach to multiple African countries, with a vision to scale across French and English-speaking Africa
• Achieved a 95% programme completion rate — a testament to our practical, learner-centred approach

Produced graduates who are employed in repair centres, telecoms businesses, and service providers — and others who have launched successful repair enterprises of their own.
